Mike Columbus Smith, 90 years old of Elyria, Ohio passed away on November 6, 2016 at his home under the care of University Hospital Hospice.
Mr. Smith was born in Roan County, Tennessee on March 12, 1926 and made his home in Elyria for the past 46 years. He served with the United States Army and was a retired auto worker at GM Fisher Body. He enjoyed participating in the walking club at Midway Mall and spent many hours taking care of his lawn.
He is survived by his wife RoseMarie "Dolly" (nee Kumazec); his children, Terence Smith, Andrea Smith, Brian Smith, and Tracy Smith all of Elyria; his grandchildren, Tiffany Smith his primary care giver, Brandon, Brent, Cory, Jennifer, Kyle and Tyler Smith all of Elyria and Savanna and Gregory Armour, both of Alaska. Also surviving are three brothers, Jim and Raymond Smith both of Tennessee and Reed Smith of Ohio; and one sister, Nancy of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike Columbus and Bessie (nee Harvy) Smith; and several brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Ohio on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Beth McKee, Chaplain of Wesleyan Village, officiating.
Burial, with full military honors provided by The United State Army, will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio.
