|Rose Marie Sholtis|
Rose Marie Sholtis (nee Manzella), age 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Known by many names to those who loved her; Rose, Rosie, Mom, Nonnie, and often the sweet, but gentle title of "babe" by her loving husband William (Bill) Sholtis. But no matter what she was called, everyone called her beautiful. Rose exuded beauty from her kind heart to her infectious smile. And if you had just five minutes to spend with Rose, it would likely turn into hours of laughing and story-telling. She loved to tell stories, often on repeat so that you would never forget tales from her childhood hometown of Connellsville, Pennsylvania, or the times when she'd walk miles to her grandmother's house to deliver fresh vegetables from the family garden.
Bill and Rose made Elyria, Ohio their home in 1949, and often Rose would tell stories of the city's charming downtown and beautiful parks. Bill and Rose had four daughters, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Rose spent much of her time thinking of others, whether nursing her family back to health with homemade soup and her healing touch, spending hours with friends in their time of need, sending thoughtful hand-written notes (with envelopes covered in stickers), or feeding the homeless at the local Salvation Army. Rose never wanted, asked for, or needed recognition for helping others. In fact, she would blush at the thought of this being written in a newspaper, and likely say, "Don't make a big fuss over me." She was a dedicated member of St. Jude Parish, where was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Rose, Rosie, Rose Marie, Mom, Nonnie... no matter how she signed her name, it was always prefaced by the words, "Love you bunches!" So fitting for a woman who's name was symbolic of love and beauty, and who gave all that in abundance.
Rose is preceded in death by her mother and father, Madeline and Nicholas Manzella. She is survived by her husband William F. Sholtis, her four daughters and sons-in-law Karen Vecchio (Dr. Ray), Kathy Krause (Robert), Dianne Austin (Jim), and Christine Spirgel (Keith), fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, sisters Marie Mongell and Anita Zentarsky, and brother Nick Manzella.
Calling hours will be held at Reichlin-Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Ohio, on Friday from 5-8pm. Closing prayers on Saturday at 9:30am at the funeral home. Followed by mass at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, Ohio on Saturday at 10:00am. The mass will be concelebrated by Reverenc Jerome M. Lajack, and Reverend Frank P. Kosem, Pastor of St. Jude Parish. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Church, or New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Rd. Elyria, Ohio 44035.

Condolences from my mother and myself on Rose Marie's passing. My mom and dad were good friends and often shared old times about Fayette County PA. My mother is in an Alzheimers care facility now and I'll pass on the sad news when I see her this week.

I'm so sorry to hear of Nonnies passing from this world to her eternal home with Jesus! She was so dear to my heart! When she came to pick up her granddaughters she always came with a smile and hugs! Because of her I am now a "Nonnie"! Being out of town won't allow me to be there but please know I will be thinking of all of you with love and prayers.
