James M. Coleman Print E-mail

James ColemanJames M. Coleman, age 82 and a resident of Elyria, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his home following a long illness. He was born October 16, 1935 in Phelps, Kentucky. Elyria has been his home since 1956.

James was a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Elyria. He worked at Ford Motor Co. for many years retiring in July of 1994. His hobbies included collecting over 25000 “Hot Wheel” miniature cars, and collecting vintage Avon bottles. He loved his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by sons Bill (Cindy) Coleman of Wellington, and Ken Coleman of Elyria; grandchildren Holly Kepler of Elyria, Leaha Caruthers of Wellington, Dana Stevens of South Amherst, Heidi Coleman of Ashland, and Jimmy Coleman of Elyria, 14 great grandchildren; brothers Scott Coleman, and Earl Coleman; sisters Pauline (Coleman) Roberts, Helen (Coleman) Dina, and Carol (Coleman) Dina.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anita Coleman (nee Hartley); sister Mary Coleman and his parents Taylor and Dorothy Coleman (nee Varney).

Friends may call Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Rd. Elyria. The Rev. Charles Keesee, pastor emeritus, will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
