Everett KirkhartEverett H. Kirkhart, age 97 of Elyria, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residential Center following a sudden illness. Everett was born March 18, 1920 in Amma, W. Virginia. Elyria has been his home since 1956.

Everett was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elyria. He served during World War II in the United States Army Air Corp. Everett retired after serving 20 years as a machinist at B.F. Goodrich in Avon Lake.

Everett’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be remembered as a very generous man willing to help anyone at any time. He was a talented man that was a "Jack of All Trades" who could repair anything.

He is survived by one daughter Janetta (Bud) Owens of Elyria; grandchildren William Owens, David Negin, and Dan Negin; great grandchildren Aaron Owens, Seth Negin, Allyson Negin, Kacie Negin, Kyle Negin, and Kalista Negin, one brother Paul (Irene) Kirkhart of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years Euma (nee Bickel) in 2010; by one daughter Evelyn Sue Negin; by his son in law Roger Negin; and seven brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday November 8, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. The Rev. Dalton Love will officiate.
