Sharon AlvarezSharon Lee Alvarez (nee Black), resident of Olmsted Falls, passed away January 2, 2019 peacefully, at the age of 67.

Sharon is survived by her husband Fred Alvarez, their children Anthony (Kara), daughters Kelly, Kathleen and Elizabeth (Michael); and her dear friend Colette Armstrong. Also survived by sisters Bonnie (Eldon Ridener) and Carol (Pete Davidson), brothers Jeff Black and Lloyd Black Jr. Along with her most cherished joys, her grandchildren McKinsey, Jarrett, Wyatt, Hannah, Kyle, Mallory, and Murphy. She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Mildred Black (nee Coyle).

Sharon was born on May 13th, 1951 in Hamilton Ohio. She graduated from Hamilton/Taft High School in 1969. She was an outgoing, friendly, full of life student and thrived in music. The relationships she made at Taft High stayed with her for the duration of her life, from fellow students to teachers. Her love for performing, music and theater started in school and stayed with her throughout her life. She received a degree in Early Childhood Education, with a certification in Montessori. She loved to teach children through music and play. She taught in the Cleveland and the Chicago Suburbs, as well as overseas in Europe, where she fell in love with the people and culture. She speaks of Belgium with the biggest heart and the biggest smile. She loved sharing her talents with others especially thru crocheting whether it be a hat, scarf, or blanket.

Sharon had been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for over 17 years. Sharon loved life, her family, her friends, and anyone that needed a friend. Even though it will be tough for everyone to imagine life without Sharon "Cherry" Alvarez, she fought to the bitter end. She had so much joy in knowing that people loved her, and that people all over the world thought she was special. She was a wonderful wife, mom, sister, friend, and especially Meme.

Family and friends may call from 9-11am on Monday January 7th, followed by an 11am funeral mass at Saint Clarence Church located at 30106 Lorain Rd in North Olmsted Ohio. After mass, the family will be having a reception at the church to honor Sharon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO BOX 1000, Dep. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

The Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St, Elyria, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.

I never had the pleasure of meeting sharon but her daughter was my boss. My kids still sleep with a baby blanket she made.for.my first born. It's beautiful just like all her other crotchet work I have seen. Wishing all who loved and knew her peace and comfort in this time of grief and sadness.

Fred and the entire Alvarez/Black family please accept our deepest sympathies. Although we didn\\\'t get to spend a lot of time together, the few times we had were special. I know my Dad and Mom thought she was a very special, loving person. May you keep her memories close to your heart and remember her vibrant, energetic life. You are in the Dominguez family thoughts and hearts.
